The CEREC® Procedure at a Glance

Step 1: Comprehensive Exam & Preparation

Your dentist first examines the affected tooth to determine if CEREC is right for you—whether you need a filling, onlay, crown, or veneer. After administering local anesthetic, any decayed or damaged tissue is gently removed to prepare the tooth for restoration.

Step 2: No-Mess Digital Impressions

Say goodbye to gooey trays and gagging. CEREC uses a small camera and medical-grade software to capture a digital 3D image of your tooth. This comfortable, non-invasive process only takes a few minutes, and provides incredibly precise data for a custom restoration.

Step 3: Custom Digital Design

The digital impression is transferred to a chairside design system, where your dentist creates a personalized restoration using advanced software. Every curve and edge is digitally modeled to match your tooth’s natural shape and bite. This process ensures a perfect fit—both functionally and aesthetically.

Step 4: On-Site Milling & Fabrication

Once your design is finalized, the digital file is wirelessly sent to our in-office CEREC milling unit. A tooth-colored ceramic block—chosen to match your enamel—is carved into your custom restoration in under 20 minutes. There’s no waiting on labs or temporary crowns.

Step 5: Final Placement & Bonding

Your dentist will test the fit of your restoration and make any needed adjustments. Once it fits flawlessly, the piece is polished and permanently bonded to your tooth. You’ll leave the office with a fully restored smile—no second visit, no temporaries, no hassle.
